Reality TV star Kate Gosselin said in divorce papers that she and husband Jon have been living apart for at least two years - but lawyers claimed that's just legal boilerplate.
"They have been living 'separate and apart' just within the last week or two," Jon's attorney, Charles Meyer, said after the filing became public Tuesday.
This new development in Jon and Kate’s divorce papers, stating that the pair have actually been apart for two years, will no doubt have fans in a tizz… and non-fans will continue to roll their eyes about the press and money this reality family has received.
In the divorce papers that Kate Gosselin filed, she states that her 10-year marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
The stars of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" announced in Monday night's episode they are splitting up, capping weeks of rumors about adultery.
In the papers filed in Pennsylvania just before the show aired, Kate said the 10-year marriage was "irretrievably broken."
The documents also said that the couple has not agreed on how to divide their assets.
The petition doesn't go into specifics on what caused the breakup, though Kate released a statement saying "Jon's activities over the weekend" forced her to file "to protect myself and our children."
The couple plan to end their marriage in July, according to Radar Online. That would allow another season to be produced before their divorce is finished.
